Carl Gai, better known by his stage name Irusu, is a 20 years old music producer from Sydney. Musically trained as a jazz guitarist, Carl served as a guitarist from 2013 - 2015 in a local indie rock band and performed in some of Sydney's iconic venues. In 2016, Carl began producing Future Bass music under the alias LAAME and established himself as a skilful house DJ in the growing Sydney club scene having been booked to play shows at The Argyle, Club 77, Homebar and Ubar. However, in 2018, Carl changed his stage name from LAAME to Irusu and began producing more cinematic and emotional synthpop whilst stepping away from DJing to craft and develop a multi-instrumental live set. Irusu's music is heavily inspired by Japanese pop culture and the sounds of Porter Robinson, Flume, Anamanaguchi and Wave Racer. With the debut EP due for release in September 2018, Carl is about to embark on a journey to Japan to polish and finish writing the record.
