The Avenue

Drawing from synth new wave bands and modern post-rock bands, THE AVENUE create a sonic palette that is both lush and powerful. Reminiscent of The 1975 and The Cure with dream pop influences like Chvrches, the band has quickly gained a reputation for pop songs that have serious weight behind them. In 2017 they released their debut EP FACES, which was an indie rock affair drawing comparisons to Catfish and The Bottlemen and The Killers. “... [the band] are literally like the Australian version of the 1975. Very poppy, but maybe a tad more rocky.” Claire Mooney • Triple J • “...very tasty indeed. All about the pop rock vibes, keep on smashing it!” Liam Stapleton • Triple J • Sophomore EP, NAMES, was released in February 2018 with lead single LOVE jumping out of the speakers with all the ferocity of a panther, pouncing on the listener, demanding their attention. Their most rock on the EP, the other songs are dense and synth heavy. Sounding like a cross between Blade Runner and Troye Sivan at times, the EP showcases the bands progression as not only songwriters but as producers. The band have supported national and international acts including British India, The Getaway Plan, Paper Lions (CA), All We Are (UK), Columbus, and CREO.
